I'm planning on organizing a campground-wide poker tournament some evening this summer as an official event. It'll be held under the tarp. The details are still coming together, but here's basically what I have in mind:n n You won't be betting your own money - just poker chips. The crowd will be divided into groups of five-player games. You will get $85 in chips and will play for 30 minutes. At the end of that time, you count your chips and that will be added to your "score". Then your table redistributes the chips evenly ($85 each) and everyone gets shuffled to different tables where they play for another 30 minutes. Near the end of the night, the five high scorers will meet in a final game to determine the winner.n n Any serious poker players that I've talked to have told me that 5-card draw is simply too much of a yawn to sit through for an entire evening, so I'm thinking that something more interesting like 7-card stud would be a better idea.n n I'm thinking that there should be a 3-4 dollar buy in to offset the cost of the equipment (chips, cards, etc.).n n We'll be playing with recycled decks from big-name casinos:n n n n I realize that Chip, Sharon and I are the only people who read this forum these days, but if anyone happens to drop by and has any suggestions about this, post it here. _________________ Pat Traynor pat@ssih.com |

Pat, poker tournament is a great idea. The world poker tournament that is being shown on tv is actually getting more audience than pga golf is.Texas holdem "all in" would be a great game. We could improvise on the rules a little.I think Ron Wiik is correct in saying the web site has many more readers than writers.n ...............Jerry T. ......... |
